David D. Sterling

David Sterling is a partner at Baker Botts, L.L.P., where he is the chair of the firm’s litigation practice.  Before becoming head of the litigation practice firm-wide, he was the chair of the securities and shareholder litigation practice group.  He principally represents issuers and underwriters in class action securities fraud actions; companies and their directors in merger and proxy litigation; corporate officers and directors in derivative lawsuits; and litigation committees and audit committees in connection with investigations and derivative litigation.

David Sterling received his B.A. in economics from Williams College in 1980 and his J.D. with honors in 1984 from The University of Texas School of Law, where he was a member of the Texas Law Review and Order of the Coif.  He was admitted to practice in 1984.

David and his wife, Kimberly, reside in Houston.
